OUR ADVICE

We live in the beautiful Lake District and are the lucky owners of an allotment which has absolutely changed our lives.  After a health condition that was aggravated by the use of e-numbers, additives and preservatives etc. We looked at how to live and cook without these. We now believe that growing your own food is an essential part of sustainable living and better for you.

Firstly you do not need an allotment to grow your own foods.  Many can be grown in existing gardens, pots, containers and even on kitchen windowcills. At Plot to Plate you will find a range of tips & staples (things we make as store cupboard ingredients and everyday items). We have growing advice for a whole range of fruit, veg, edible flowers and herbs. Once you have successfully gown your produce what can you actually do with it? Well this is where our recipes come in.  Everything featured here we have grown, preserved and eaten ourselves!

We are not full time producers or professionals.  We still manage to grow, preserve and eat as much home grown food as possible.  Whilst cutting down on Ultra Processed Foods and our need for shop bought items we have along the way created a sustainable way of living.  The produce on our allotment has a "food mile" of about half a mile.  This is from "Plot To Plate"

If we can do this, so can you!
